The BC Institute of Technology
is one of the leading educational schools in Canada.
The High-Tech Pofessional Faculty (or HTP), focuses
on technology and business.
The challenge for BCIT was to continue to grow
their student work term programs while controlling
the rising costs associated with their current
paper based system. They wanted a new automated
system that could streamline their existing processes
and thus reducing or eliminating duplicate data
entry, repetitive processes, and the costs associated
with the delivery of hard copy job applications
by courier.

4AM worked with BCIT to develop an online work
term application system. Through in-depth interviews
with staff, students, and employers, 4AM was able
to design a customized solution with the key goals
of automation and cost reduction. The new system
provided a web interface for employers to post
jobs, students to view and apply for jobs, and
the school to administer the program. A back-end
database was used to store all the work term information.
In addition, 4AM provided staff training and technical
support after the completion of the project.
